Users are not required to provide this information to use the app. However, because the service includes a forum, users may choose to share this type of information when posting or asking for advice.
Where this happens, it is shared voluntarily by the user and is managed through guidance and moderation.

- personal data revealing religious or philosophical beliefs;
- data concerning health;
- data concerning a person's sexual orientation.

The digital platform is designed to provide a space for carers to share information, advice, and experiences relating to services, activities, events, and day‑to‑day support for the individuals they care for. Users may choose to post general queries or seek advice that relates to specific health or social care needs, including considerations such as faith or cultural requirements.
Any information shared within the platform is provided voluntarily by users and will only be used to enable other users / the Council Shared Lives team to respond and offer support or guidance.
Users are advised not to include personal identifiable information (such as names, dates of birth, or similar details), as this is not required.
While users are not required to share personal or identifiable information about themselves or others, they may choose to include this in posts. Users are encouraged to avoid sharing identifiable details, and content is subject to moderation where appropriate.
What is the lawful basis we are relying on to use personal information?
We collect and use this information under
Health or social care (with a basis in law) - Article 9(2)h)
We will only use your personal data where it is necessary for the Council to carry out its public task as a local authority in relation to adult social care and the support of carers (Article 6(1)(e) UK GDPR). This includes our functions under the Care Act 2014.
Where special categories of personal data are processed, this will be in connection with health or social care purposes (Article 9(2)(h) UK GDPR). This information is not routinely required to use the service, but may be shared voluntarily by users as part of forum discussions.
Where has your personal information come from?
Information on the platform is provided directly by users and the Council Shared Lives team. To register for the app, users are required to provide a name and email address.
Any additional information shared by users is provided voluntarily and may be included when seeking advice or information from others through the app’s community forum as described above.
Who we will share your personal data with
Your personal data is shared securely with the following organisations where it is both necessary and appropriate to do so.
Carbon Creative, as the app developer, acts as a data processor on behalf of the Council and may access personal data where necessary to maintain and support the platform.
How long will we keep your information?
Our retention schedule sets out how long we keep personal information for.
We keep your account information while your account is active. Information may also be held in system backups for a limited period (up to one year) before being deleted.
Automated decision making and Profiling
The Council does not use your personal data for automated decision making or profiling.
What rights do you have in relation to your personal information?
